CARIAD PROGRESS REPORT #9

(Week ending 30th April 2022)

_________________________________________________________

With the exception of planking, all phases of the remedial work are progressing well. See included photos for mizzen mast construction.

According to Mike Howett, our head shipwright, he built two topsail jack booms for Cariad in 2008. They may still be in Singapore. If not we will log them as presumed lost.

Consideration should be given to the weight of main and mizzen topsail jackyards plus the weight of the sails. We believe a reduced or not well skilled crew they have difficulty hoisting such a sail. Traditional topsail configurations could be considered.

Our measurements of the spars are as close as possible to Cariad original dimensions without the availability of her original plans. The scantling dimensions are a product of architectural proportions.
